Cayman Brac
The quiet, laidback atmosphere of the island belie the activity found under that water’s surface. Cayman Brac is host to 1800 residents, 1 nature reserve and more then 50 dive sites.
Visitors have a wide range of activities to fill the day. One of the most popular includes diving. Boasting the only divable Russian warship in the Western Hemisphere the MV Capt. Keith Tibbetts was intentionally sunk in 1996 as an artificial reef. The Brac has 11 sites that are accessible by shore including Charlie’s Reef on the north side of the island. This site is named after a six-foot green moray and is known for the friendly schools of Spanish grunts which allow you to get close enough for a dental exam!
If diving isn’t for you; take some time to explore the Cayman Brac Museum in Stake Bay; the series of caves and nature trails or hiking the bluff on the eastern tip of the island.
One of the best ways to remember the beauty of the Cayman waters includes photography. The sea life is very photogenic with fish providing ample opportunities to impress your friends at home with your talent.
