DOT AND CNCF CREATE ANOTHER YEAR OF HISTORICAL FUN
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (May 11, 2010) Treasure hunters of all ages turned out in force on Saturday, May 1, 2010, eager to learn more about our island’s rich history. The second annual George Town Historical Treasure Hunt was organized by the Department of Tourism and Cayman National Cultural Foundation as part of the Cayfest celebrations. “We want the people of the Cayman Islands to be aware of our capital’s amazing past,” said Karie Bounds, Product Development Officer for DoT. “Both locals and visitors were strongly encouraged to participate in this fun, educational event.” The hunt included seven stops: Fort George, the Townhall/Townclock, Cayman Islands National Museum, Heroes Square, Public Library, Post Office, and the historic step located in Bayshore Mall. To help boost the “competitive spirit”, the organizers provided some fine Cayman entertainment including special performances by the dancers from the Kri Performing Arts School and the Swanky Kitchen Band.
 L-R: Department of Tourism’s Racquel Brown, Manger, Tourism Development Services, and Karie-Ann Bounds, Product Development Officer, presented the “Treasure Seekers” with their first place prize First prize was awarded to the “Treasure Seekers”, who received Cayman Airways tickets. Second place went to the “Kaymanites”, who were presented with Atlantis Submarine passes; and the “Booty Hunters” happily accepted their gift certificate for dinner to the Brickhouse Restaurant for third place. In addition, all participants received DoT and CNCF giveaways.
